Oshkosh wins USMC vehicle armour contract
25 Aug 2008
Oshkosh Defense has been awarded an US$11.7 million contract with the US Marine Corps to install reducible height armour kits on the Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacements (MTVR).
Production will take place during 2009 at multiple Oshkosh service facilities located throughout the US.
The upgraded kits will add capabilities to the current armour system used for the MTVR by allowing the top of the cab to be removed for transport, which will enable the vehicles to be loaded aboard Mobile Prepositioning Ships.
The MTVR was developed as an all-terrain, multi-purpose logistics vehicle for the US Marines and Navy Seabees and helps to provide cross-country mobility while maintaining payload capability.
Flexibility
The upgraded kits will add capabilities to the current armour system used for the MTVR.
