ADM DMO/Industry team of the Year Award for Excellence 2014 winners

A range of SME and Primes were recognised for their work in 2013 at the ADM2014 Awards Dinner held in Canberra at Old Parliament House.

The ADM/DMO Industry Awards recognise excellence in the level of collaboration between DMO and Industry teams.

Major Acquisition
LAND 121 PHASE 3A – Lightweight and Light Capability, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Vehicle
Industry team: Mercedez-Benz Australia/Pacific
DMO team: Land 121, Phase 3A project team, LVS, Land Systems Division

As part of the wider Land 121 Phase 3A program, Mercedes Benz and the program office worked to provide specialized vehicles for Regional

Force Surveillance Units in the NT. Both parties worked collaboratively in a very short time frame to produce demanding prototypes and production variants for the end user. The program is a credit to both parties in delivering to the end user a platform that goes above and beyond.

WINNER: Essington Lewis Trophy for DMO/Major contractor team

In a first for these awards, the judges have recognized a previous winner for their continued efforts. The ANZAC Class Anti-ship Missile Defence Project has travelled from being a Project of Concern to a valuable lesson in what Australian industry and Defence can do in high technology areas when they work together effectively. It is a great pleasure to acknowledge all parties in this highly successful program.

Minor Project AMP002.12 Acquisition of Australian Light
Armoured Vehicle (ASLAV) Crew Procedural Trainer (CPT)
Industry team: Thales Australia
DMO team: AMP002.12 Project Team, MCSPO, Land Systems Division

In a first in these awards, this team of AVSPO and Thales Australia has been recognized a second time for their efforts on under Army Minor 002.12 providing Crew Procedural Trainers for the ASLAV turret in the form of a simulator, doubling the capacity of the existing training capability. The program is to be commended for completing their program ahead of schedule and under budget. The program concluded in 2013 and will be used as an example by both parties for future programs.

ANZAC (FFH) Class Maintenance Program
Industry team: Naval Ship Management (Aust) Pty Ltd
NOTE: Naval Ship Management (Australia) Pty. Ltd. is a Joint Venture between UGL and Babcock
DMO team: ANZAC Systems Program Office, Maritime Systems Division

As a pilot program for the division, the group maintenance contract ofthe ANZAC class frigates has been a success for both the industry partners of Naval Ship Management Australia and Maritime Systems Division. The work done on HMAS Toowoomba in response to urgent operational needs was noted by the judges, as was the early start date of the contract to meet the demands of the ADF.

Rapid Acquisition
Patrol-based Persistent Surveillance Systems (PPSS)
Industry team: Rockwell Collins Australia
DMO team: PPSS Project Team, Land Systems Division
WINNER: Essington Lewis Trophy for DMO/SME team

Rockwell Collins Australia and the project team in Land Systems Division are being recognized for their outstanding work on the Patrolbased Persistent Surveillance Systems (PPSS) as identified under the Force Protection measures. The rapid nature of the project meant that the two parties worked together to produce an urgent solution for the warfighter on only nine months. Leveraging international experience and user feedback, the team were able to deliver a comprehensive mixture of COTS products to meet the requirements.
