SA advanced manufacturing company Redarc Electronics has signed a MoU with German naval C2 and navigation system integrator, Raytheon Anschütz, to partner for integration activity of the latter's navigation and bridge Systems for Australian naval projects.

The agreement, which followed in-depth market testing by Raytheon Anschütz, will open export opportunities by integrating Redarc into the Raytheon Anschütz international supply chain.

Raytheon Anschütz manager (Offset and Supply Chain) Oliver Welzel said the company is committed to maximising local content in its offers for future Australian naval projects and will invest to transfer advanced system integration capabilities to the Redarc workforce as part of its efforts to transfer technology to support Australian sovereign capabilities.

“We see a good fit between both our companies and, as always with our partners, we are looking for a long-term relationship which adds value beyond fulfilling a country-specific requirement for local content.”

Redarc MD Anthony Kittel said the company had established itself as a key SME in the defence military vehicle and naval systems sector over the past five years.

“It means we are well positioned to provide world-class innovation to help Raytheon Anschütz deliver Australian Industry Content.”

Redarc was recently selected as one of eight SMEs to participate in a virtual shipyard development program in SA supported by the Advanced Manufacturing Growth Centre, Dassault Systèmes, the SA Government and ICT services company ASG.

Just over a year ago, the company received a Next Generation Manufacturing Investment Program grant of $2.5 million to undertake a capital expansion program at its site in Lonsdale to expand its capacity and capability in electronic power management and control systems, penetrate identified export markets and diversify into the domestic defence and medical industries.
