A high capacity portable diesel drive salvage pump designed specifically for salt water use has been released by Australian Pump Industries.

The Sea Skipper QP402SL-L100 is fitted with bronze impeller and volute, body components manufactured of marine grade aluminium (coated inside and out with an epoxy style corrosion resistant paint) and integrated sacrificial anodes in order to withstand life at sea. Stainless steel fasteners with a hot dip galvanised frame, optionally stainless steel, also ensure maximum longevity.

The pump has a maximum head of 50m (66 psi) and flows of up to 1400 LPM.

It is powered by a 10HP electric start Yanmar diesel engine with recoil backup, which delivers plenty of power but enables the pump to weigh in at just a little over 100 kilograms. That light weight makes the Sea Skipper ideal for salvage and fire-fighting operations at sea for patrol boats, tugs, barges and ferries.

“In the event of an emergency, it’s a simple matter to drop the suction hose over the side and to start the pre-primed pump. The high capacity and pressure makes it an ideal fire pump, whilst the big flow enables it to double as a very effective salvage pump” said Product Manager, Brad Farrugia.

The product is already used by Navy. The product is also suitable for coast guard, customs, water police and even for bush fire-fighting from the water.
