Kratos Defense & Security Solutions has announced that it has opened a new facility in Nowra, NSW. The office will be the centre of the company's emerging presence in Australia's defence industry landscape.

Locating its new facilities in Nowra's Albatross Aviation Technology Park means the company is well positioned to support the ADF's evolving UAS requirements. Kratos is initially focused on developing UAS tactical/target and range support systems, but has also identified opportunities in Australia for each of its five divisions.

“Kratos is committed to supporting the ADF's needs with our range of tactical and target UAS," Steve Fendley, Kratos’ Unmanned Systems Division president, said. "With the increased defence focus in Australia, and the low cost versus performance ratio our UAS provide, we offer true leading technology, capabilities, and performance at an affordable cost."

Kratos celebrated its office opening along with team partner Air Affairs, which recently opened its extensive new expansion and headquarters relocation in Nowra.

Defence Minister Marise Payne attended the opening and expressed her support. “Using aerial target systems enables the ADF to undertake specialised training effectively and efficiently, using realistic scenarios that ensure our personnel have the skills needed to respond to any threats,” Minister Payne said.

“The Turnbull Government is investing $200 billion in our defence capability over the next decade to ensure the ADF is equipped to succeed in our challenging strategic environment.”

Kratos and Air Affairs together offer a wide range of aerial target capabilities, ranging from unmanned jet target aircraft, through to manned aircraft tow target services.

“I am excited to be expanding our international footprint and leveraging the $85 million in investments we have made to develop and field a suite of UAS," Eric DeMarco, Kratos’ CEO, said.

"Today’s announcement of our Australian facility opening demonstrates our continued commitment and the successful execution of our business plan to be the global leader in high performance jet UAS.”

Kratos is currently under contract on multiple jet powered tactical unmanned aerial drone systems.
