Defence Force Air Show

The Defence Force Air Show will be held at RAAF Base Pearce on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 May 2012.

 “The Australian Defence Force is an important part of the Perth community, so it’s great to put an Air Show on here to thank the community for their support. “We undertake vital training using the PC-9/A and Hawk 127 aircraft based here at RAAF Base Pearce. We are quite literally preparing the fighter pilots of the future. Amongst the displays at the Air Show, will be the PC-9A and the Hawk 127, so locals can get up close and see the aircraft that regularly fly here,” Head of Special Events, Air Commodore Phil Byrne said.

Air Commodore Byrne said the Air Show provides an opportunity for Perth residents to see a range of Defence capabilities.

“There will be the latest F/A-18F Super Hornet, F/A-18 A/B Classic Hornets, the C-130 Hercules, C-17A Globemaster, the AP-3C Orion, the KC-30A Multi Role Tanker Transport, a Navy Seahawk and the Roulettes.

“The RAAF Band, precision drill displays and Military Working Dog displays will ensure there is a lot to see on the ground as well.”

The theme of the Pearce Air Show is Air Force: Anywhere, Anytime to reflect the speed with which the ADF can deploy around the nation and the world. In addition to operations around the globe, the ADF played a critical role in disaster relief in 2011.

The Defence Force Air Show will be held on 19 and 20 May 2012 from 8am to 5pm (last entry at 2pm). Flying displays will be held from 12pm to 3pm. Discounted pre-tickets are available at www.airforce.gov.au/AirShows/ for $20 for adults and $5 for children.

RAAF Base Pearce is located on the Great Northern Highway, Bullsbrook WA 6084.
