BAE Systems 6,000 training mission milestone

BAE Systems’ Navigation Trainer Project (NTP)’s Airborne Navigation Trainers have completed 6,000 successful training missions for the Australian Defence Force’s School of Air Warfare (SAW).

The achievement is a major milestone for the NTP team which provides the SAW with airborne navigation training environments for the Royal Australian Air Force’s Air Combat Officer and the Royal Australian Navy’s Aviation Warfare Officer students.

The milestone was acknowledged at a ceremony in East Sale attended by the SAW’s Commanding Officer Wing Commander Craig Stallard and executive officer Lieutenant Commander Phil Woodward, Peter Farrell and Gail Carvolth from the Training Aircraft Systems Project Office, the maintenance team from Hawker Pacific and the 32 Squadron crew and students under instruction on this flight.

Commanding Officer School of Air Warfare, WGCDR Stallard said: “BAE Systems and the SAW have worked as a team over the last 10 years to provide quality aircrew training for the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces. The Airborne Navigation Trainer is a world class training system and we look forward to continuing this relationship for many more missions”.

Director Aerospace, BAE Systems, Steve Drury, said: “The NTP entered into service in 2004 and ever since, the team has achieved systems availability at 100 per cent. I congratulate the NTP project team in both Edinburgh Parks and East Sale on the achievement of this milestone.”

BAE Systems is currently under contract until July 2016 for the Through Life Support of the NTP provided at RAAF Base East Sale, Victoria.
