Local defence manufacturer Australian Aerospace Limited has been rebranded as Airbus Group Australia Pacific, marking the occasion with the formal opening of a new headquarters complex in Canberra.

Following the lead taken early this year when the EADS Group was rebranded as “Airbus Group” and Eurocopter as “Airbus Helicopters”, effective today the new Airbus Group Australia Pacific will be home to,and represent, three distinct brands:

1. Airbus Group
2. Airbus Helicopters
3. Airbus Defence and Space.

Airbus Group Australia Pacific will remain 100 per cent owned by Airbus Helicopters, and the changes will apply to all logos, branding, products and services throughout Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.

Commenting on the start of a new era for Australia’s defence and aerospace industries, the inaugural managing director of Airbus Group Australia Pacific, Dr. Jens Goennemann, said:

“Across the world, the move to Airbus Group strengthens our position in the market. Airbus is a strong brand name and we now have a unified corporate name in commercial aircraft, helicopters, defence and space – that also represents the three divisions of the Airbus Group – trading on Airbus’ brand recognition of quality, innovation and reliability.

“Airbus Group Australia Pacific seeks to grow the business within the region where we have identified a range of opportunities to expand our portfolio of products. As the local ‘industrial footprint’ representing Airbus Group, Airbus Helicopters and Airbus Defence and Space in the region, we seek to further partner with the Defence Force of Australia, New Zealand and nations of the South Pacific”.
