Elbit Systems of Australia (ELSA) has successfully closed out the delivery phase of the Land 125 Phase 3C contract supplying XACTth65 thermal weapon sights to the ADF.

Since delivery commenced in September 2016, nearly 4,800 XACTth65 thermal sights have been supplied to the Army with early indications suggesting that the systems are proving reliable.

“Personnel who have been issued with the XACTth65 have been giving us extremely positive feedback about the sight’s effectiveness and ease of use,” ELSA’s Land 125 Project Manager, Cathie Webb said.

Managing director Dan Webster and Malcolm McKeith, Director of Armaments Systems Program Office at CASG, signed the final delivery document at Melbourne’s Victoria Barracks.

McKeith acknowledged the strength of the relationship that the contract has fostered between his office and Elbit Systems, and also expressed interest in other technologies under development.

Webster believes evolving technologies will play a major role in the Company’s strategic partnership with the Army and the ADF more broadly. “Technology is moving very quickly right across our very diverse offering, and weapon sights are no exception. The XACTth65 thermal sight is just the beginning of the role technology will play in sighting systems, with the integration of the Battle Management System and sights likely to be the next step," he said.

The Maintenance phase of Land 125 continues until mid-2020.
