Frontline Manufacturing in Logan City has marked a decade of engagement and service to the defence sector with an official opening of their new premises.
The opening included a reception function attended by past and present employees, local and interstate invitees, Queensland Minister for Industry and Member for Logan Cameron Dick, and company leadership, including initial company founder Matthew Ellis and current director Daniel Green.
Ellis noted the growth of the company over its last 25 years from its early years in Wacol in 1996 using donated metal off-cuts to now being a recognised leader in plasma cutting of high-tensile steels and robotic welding.
The 2011 Brisbane flood and subsequent government assistance given to businesses to help them restart was the catalyst to commence looking for larger premises, and in congratulating the Frontline team, Minister Dick noted the growth of the Logan region as one of a manufacturing hub and the manner in which so many companies such as Frontline had survived countless challenges and still come through.
Green commented on the vision to have Frontline Manufacturing seen as the go-to facility for manufacturing metal components and structures for Defence and indeed any industry needing high levels of precision, tolerances, and certifications.
He noted the steady growth of defence work, from small jobs onto projects such as Land 121 and now as part of the Boxer team in Land 400 Phase 2.
Green noted that while high-quality equipment was implicit in such a business, Frontline couldn’t achieve outcomes without the high levels of professionalism shown by all the staff.
