In case you missed our earlier special release, the RFT for Phase 5B1 is expected to be released on March 30, 2012.

Joint Project 2008 Phase 5B1 aims to enhance the Defence Satellite Communications (SATCOM) capability through the delivery of a family of certified Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) transportable land terminals.

The proposed RFT is for the Acquisition and Support of the materiel system.

Potential tenderers should be aware that parts of the RFT documentation will have a security classification of Australian Restricted.

Potential tenderers must have both the facility to hold and store Restricted documentation and security clearance for all personnel requiring access to Restricted RFT documents.

Further information on gaining facility and personnel security accreditations can be found at http://www.defence.gov.au/dsa/index.html

Accreditation of potential tenderers based overseas will need to be verified by the Australian Department of Defence before any classified information can be transferred or shared.

This security verification process may take up to six weeks or longer.

Potential tenderers requiring security clearance are requested to email the JP 2008 Phase 5B1 Project Office no later than Friday February 17, 2012.

This will initiate the security verification process and timely access to RESTRICTED tender material when the RFT is released.
