Swiss Technology Group RUAG has acquired Rosebank Engineering Pty Ltd, which specialises in maintenance, repair and overhaul services for the Royal Australian Air Force.

The acquisition underlines RUAG’s growing market presence in the Asia-Pacific region. All 154 employees have been taken on by RUAG.

The contract was signed December 14, 2012. Until now RUAG has supported its customer base in the Asia-Pacific region from its facilities in Malaysia and Europe.

This transaction means that the company can now offer comprehensive life-cycle support out of Australia.

The most significant customer at present is the Royal Australian Air Force via the Australian Department of Defence.

Internationally, Rosebank will be represented by RUAG.

The parties have agreed not to disclose the price of the shares sold.

"Having acquired Rosebank Engineering Pty Ltd, which will be called Rosebank Engineering Australia, RUAG can offer lifecycle support solutions to its Australian and regional customers from component to platform level. This means that RUAG, the longstanding technology partner of the Swiss Armed Forces, is also well placed to offer extensive lifecycle support services to the Australian Defence Force,” Philipp Berner, CEO of RUAG's Aviation Division said.
