The next round of SADI (Skilling Australia’s Defence Industry) is open for nominations, with funding worth up to $5.6 million.
 
The SADI Program works toward increasing the number of qualified engineers, technicians, tradespeople and project managers in defence industry. The SADI program will be delivered by AusIndustry, within the Department of Industry and Science on behalf of the Department of Defence in FY 2015-16.
 
The SADI program is part of the Australian Government’s investment of more than $215 million over 10 years to increase the skills base of the defence industry, create pathways into the sector and address the skills capability gap.
 
The SADI program commenced in 2005 with three main aims, namely to:
- up-skill existing employees in the defence industry
- improve the quality and quantity of skills training in defence industry 
- provide funding support to defence industry for training activities where there is an identified skills shortage in technical, trade and professional skill sets.
 
Since its inception, around 200 Australian defence companies and organisations have been provided with funding support for training or skilling activities in trade, technical and professional skill sets.
 
The funding round opened on 27 July 2015 and applications will close 25 August 2015 at 11.59pm (AEST).
