Thales Australia’s Christine Chen has been named Sydney’s Young Engineer of the Year at Engineers Australia’s 2015 NSW Showcase event.

Christine works in the company’s Specialty Engineering Group, focusing on electromagnetic interference and radiation. She recently worked on the Hawkei protected vehicle, contributing along with many other colleagues to the recent signing of a $1.3 billion contract with the Commonwealth.

“I’m delighted to win this award,” she said. “Engineers Australia is a great organisation that does so much to promote engineering in this country. I’d like to thank them, as well as all my colleagues, for their support.”

Christine also plays an active role in highlighting defence industry careers to the country’s future engineers through her positions as Chair of Young Engineers Australia (Sydney Division) and Deputy Chair of the Australian Society for Defence Engineering NSW.
