Aspen has been contracted to provide AME services between Butaritari Island, Bonriki International Airport, South Tarawa, Kiribati and Australia.
The ADF will be conducting the clearance of unexploded WWII ordnance from the area of Butaritari Island.
This work will be conducted by a Defence team of 22 Personnel for an extended period from this month.
Aspen is required to provide AME specialists, aircraft, logistics support and anything else necessary to deliver the task.
“These ADF personnel are conducting a high-risk task, and Aspen’s job is to be ready at any moment if required.
"Accordingly, we have sourced the highest quality medical and aviation personnel, as well as all the necessary aeromedical equipment, consumables and all the required logistics,” said Glenn Keys, Managing Director of Aspen Medical.
Aspen’s medical and AME capability came to international notice when the company’s medical team saved the life the President of East Timor and airlifted him to Darwin for further treatment earlier this year.
In Australia, the Aspen team provide health services at the Puckapunyal and Albury/Wodonga military area, as well as a number of State and Territory health services.
The new contract also builds upon Aspen Medical’s provision of healthcare services to the ADF in Northern Australia, North Queensland, West Australia and Victoria.
