As part of a broader program of industry reforms, Minister for Defence Industry Melissa Price has announced the Terms of Reference for the Australian Standard for Defence Contracting (ASDEFCON) and Defence Procurement Review.

As a consequence, Defence says it is now conducting a review of the ASDEFCON suite of tendering and contracting templates and relevant Defence procurement processes and practices to 'identify improvement opportunities'.

While the ASDEFCON suite of tendering and contracting templates have been continually updated since their release in 2002, Defence says it wants to ensure that they remain relevant, contemporary and represent best practice. The review is called the ASDEFCON and Defence Procurement Review.

In order to influence the content, direction and continual improvement of the ASDEFCON suite of tendering and contracting templates and Defence’s procurement processes, Defence is also requesting input for industry.

Importantly, industry does not have to be in contract with Defence to be able to contribute.

The survey can be accessed here. It closes on 28 February 2021.
