EPE has partnered with Boston Dynamics to bring the advanced public safety Spot package to defence, public safety, and first responder agencies in Australia, New Zealand, and Indonesia.

"The agile Spot walking robot from Boston Dynamics belongs to the latest generation of mobile remote-controlled robots and sets standards in terms of its impressive mobility and autonomy. It masters stairs and uneven terrain with ease and always ensures stability and walking safety," EPE's website states.

Spot assesses potentially dangerous scenarios and reduces risk for personnel by being the first to enter these situations. It was created to assist incident commanders by possessing rapid situational awareness which allows for informed decision-making and de-escalation of hazardous situations.

"Equipped with active stability control and integrated collision avoidance, Spot can also actively avoid obstacles. The development of the unique disarmament-specific Spot X-DiS accessory with support from Boston Dynamics now extends the application possibilities of the versatile Spot system into the field of bomb disposal," EPE's website explained.

Operators give simple commands, enabling Spot to autonomously navigate complex environments. Spot is equipped with a self-righting feature which ensures it can recover from falls. It also has arm manipulation which allows Spot to manipulate objects within its environment.

EPE has over 400 robots and thousands of sensors already deployed in defence and public safety sectors.
