Sydney City Marine (SCM) has successfully docked and undocked HMAS Diamantina, one of the RAN’s 52m Huon Class Minehunter Coastal vessels.

The scheduled docking consisted of a combined effort of both SCM and Thales and was undertaken over a 7 day period. The decision to utilise SCM’s recently ADF-authorised facilities was taken primarily due to the Captain Cook Graving Dock (CCGD) being fully utilised by the scheduled docking of HMAS Canberra.

"The docking demonstrated SCM’s ability to promptly respond to an RAN requirement whilst effectively collaborating with a major prime, Thales Australia, to achieve a successful and timely outcome," Warren Levin, SCM’s Director of Commercial and Defence said.

"This successful docking has highlighted SCM’s inherent strengths and capabilities to fully support Fleet Base East, particularly during the planned closure of the CCGD for major refurbishment.

"The docking not only positions SCM as a proven and reliable facility but also as a future service provider to the Repair and Maintenance Centre – East RMC(E) under RADM Malcolm’s Plan Galileo initiative.

"This docking is testament to the determination of SCM to become authorised by the ADF in order to dock their vessels and provide a higher level of ongoing support; it addition to further demonstrating how well primes such as Thales Australia can effectively and successfully work with SMEs to achieve the RAN’s objectives."

Sydney City Marine provides local and sovereign sustainment capabilities and is located in Rozelle with waterway access to key Defence establishments such as HMAS Waterhen and Fleet Base East.
