Lindsay Pears has been selected as the new Managing Director of Saab Systems, replacing Merv Davis, who has been Saab Managing Director for the past five years.

He will take up the role on 5 January 2009 in Adelaide. Mr Pears was recently Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at Boeing Australia and previously held a wide range of other appointments mostly in the defence domain.

Elsewhere, South Australian Premier Mike Rann and General Peter Cosgrove AC MC have announced the appointment of former Chief of Army Lieutenant General Peter Leahy AC to the Defence SA Advisory Board.

“We are delighted that Lieutenant General Leahy has accepted a position on South Australia’s influential Defence SA Advisory Board,” Mr Rann said.

“His solid expertise complements the Board’s existing capabilities and will help to ensure that the State reaches its targets to double the defence industry’s contribution to our economy to $2 billion, and to increase defence employment to 28,000, by 2013.”
