Data#3 is the successful tenderer for the Microsoft Large Account Reseller contract, which will result in cost reductions for Defence, announced Minister for Defence Joel Fitzgibbon.

The contract was signed on 15 October 2008 after an open tender process initiated earlier this year.

“Under the contract, Defence has negotiated competitive pricing for the Large Account Reseller Services in support of
procurement for Microsoft products,” Mr Fitzgibbon said.

“This is expected to lead to cost reductions for Defence and can also be extended to all Australian Government agencies, including federal, state and territory, and local government agencies.”

Defence, as the lead agency, is negotiating an agreement for Microsoft software requirements as part of the Government’s Coordinated Procurement Contracting Framework.

The Framework is being coordinated through the Department of Finance and Deregulation and is designed to reduce costs across government by utilising its collective purchasing power and reducing administration.
