The merged entity of Adelaide-based technology providers Consilium Technology and elmTEK has now been named as Aurizn, with ambitions for its 160-strong skilled workforce to drive faster innovation and transition of sovereign technologies for Defence.

“As part of last year’s merger we’ve been working on refining and strengthening our digital offering to Defence, developing new capabilities like Synthetic T&E and investments in Technology Acceleration which directly answer the needs of the defence industry at this critical point in time”, said Ganen Ganeswaran, the company’s CEO of Defence.

Director of Strategy Bjorn Wharff disclosed Aurizn is currently delivering an innovative simulation and training capability for JP 500 Phase 2 which is being integrated as part of a broader multi-domain platform and mission survivability capability at DST Group.

The simulator consists of a 270-degree immersive dome which is capable of creating life-like physical effects such as vibration, weapon kickback and realistic battlefield sounds for the human operators.

“When the operator pulls the trigger on a weapon, they need to feel the right resistance and experience an immediate response. If there’s even a 10-milliscond delay in sound, feel or sight when the trigger is pulled, the operator can notice and start to change their behaviour, either consciously or sub-consciously”, Wharff said.

“Latency and correlation are critical things to ger right to ensure the experience is compelling, so that we can get the most insight from the data”.

The company said system delivery was currently expected in December.
