The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) has officially accepted its first Airbus A400m military transport in a ceremony in Spain.

Chief of the Malaysian Defence Force General Tan Sri Dr. Zulkifeli, accepted the first of five ordered aircraft at the A400M production line in Seville on March 9.

Chief of the RMAF, General Dato' Sri Roslan Bin Saad, said: “The A400M will give the RMAF the most advanced heavy transport capability in the region and enable us to undertake an extraordinary range of military and humanitarian operations.”

The handover is also a significant milestone for Airbus, as the first delivery of an A400M to an export customer outside the original launch nations.

After arrival in Malaysia, the A400M will star in the LIMA airshow at Langkawi, beginning on March 17.

Airbus has sold 174 A400Ms, with France, Germany, Turkey and the United Kingdom now operating a total of 10.
