Team Sentinel today announces CBG Systems (CBG) has joined the group bidding the Sentinel II Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle (CRV) in response to the Commonwealth’s Land 400 Phase 2 Program.

A global leader in marine and industrial insulation and fire protection systems, CBG will provide their stealth blanket technology to enhance the protection capabilities of the highly advanced Sentinel II Armoured Vehicle.

“Team Sentinel is pleased to announce our partnership with CBG today. CBG are industry leaders in advanced material solutions, with an excellent track record in developing and supplying high performance systems for the defence sector both here and in the US,” Dan Webster managing director Elbit Systems Australia said.

Recently down selected for the engineering and manufacturing phase of the US Marine’s Amphibious Combat Vehicle Program, the TERREX 2 platform by Singapore Technologies Kinetics (ST Kinetics) forms the vehicle base of the Sentinel II.

According to Webster, the platform ensures high levels of protection, mobility and lethality, and features combat proven military systems and technology that will be manufactured and integrated locally with the majority of work conducted in Tasmania and Geelong in Victoria.

“CBG’s cutting edge stealth blanket technology delivers on the Commonwealth’s criteria of prioritising survivability for the future Land 400 Program," Webster said.

"The Solar Sigma Shield is a new technology which reduces the thermal and radar signature of the Sentinel II. The technology will make the CRV harder to see, detect and engage, providing the Sentinel II a decisive combat advantage against adversary detection and engagement systems.”

Based in Derwent Park, Tasmania, CBG specialises in the supply and installation of fire, thermal and acoustic insulation systems for a range of marine, industrial and commercial clients. They employ highly skilled engineers and workers, developing and exporting their products locally and globally.

“CBG is recognised for excellence by the US military and by merchant marine and military operators worldwide," Javier Herbon of CBG said.

"Joining Team Sentinel today is recognition of our reputation as a leading innovator in advanced material technology. Our products are designed to save lives, and I am immensely proud to be offering our systems for the Australian Army’s Armoured Combat Vehicle Program.”

“We currently have 40 employees at our Derwent Park facility. Should the Sentinel II be down selected for Land 400 we expect our supply chain to expand and an additional 20 jobs be created here in Tasmania to support the Program,” Javier Herbon said. “Moving into the land defence sector is the spearhead for potential opportunities in the Asia Pacific region as we continue to diversify and grow the CBG business.”

CBG Systems joins Team Sentinel partners The Elphinstone Group (Haulmax), Marand Industries, WE Platt Mounts, RGM Maintenance and Linfox.

“Team Sentinel and its partners are committed to developing and sustaining local defence industry capability. Our aim is to create an enduring defence industry capability that extends well beyond the expectations of the Land 400 parameters. By doing so, we not only building a world-class vehicle, we create the opportunity for Australian industry to innovate and grow, while generating secure jobs for Australians in regional areas,” Webster said.
