The Royal Australian Navy is seeking to establish an arrangement for three years with two options of one year extensions for the purpose of Contractor support, maintenance, crewing and operation of the Multi-role Aviation Training Vessel (MATV).

The Damen-built MATV Sycamore, which is about to be launched in Haiphong, Vietnam, will be a civilian registered, aviation-capable, ocean-going vessel for the delivery of military training and other services to the RAN and other Commonwealth agencies. The MATV will be required to undertake any task that is within the inherent capability of the vessel.

The Tender notice stated, “Notwithstanding this broad tasking requirement, the MATV will be used for the following roles: helicopter flight and deck training, Officer Sea Familiarisation, navigation training, diving support to mine warfare training, target towing, consort duties, and practice weapon recovery. All training will be conducted by naval and / or Commonwealth personnel with the Contractor operating and sustaining the vessel. The Contractor may also be required to perform tasking in its own right.”

An industry briefing will be conducted at Holiday Inn Potts Point, Sydney commencing at 11.00am on Monday 19th December 2016.
