FLIR Systems has announced a contract award from the US Navy worth some $52 million for its Star SAFIRE HD family of digital, high definition, full-spectrum imaging systems.
The systems are expected to be deployed on aerostats as part of the Navy’s Persistent Ground Surveillance System (PGSS ) program.
The ADF employs the Star SAFIRE on its AP-3C fleet providing airborne video surveillance feeds to commanders on the ground including in Afghanistan.
