Kongsberg will supply its Protector remote weapon system for Supacat’s Extenda special forces vehicle in Australian service.

The Protector is a stabilised system designed for small and medium calibre weapons and can be installed on any type of platform, including the 89 Supacat Extenda Special Operations Vehicles - Commando (SOV-Cdo) ordered for Australian special forces in August 2014 under the JP2097 Phase 1B (REDFIN) program. The Protector is in service with 17 nations.

Australia was one of the first export countries to purchase the Protector in 2004. This latest deal marks the first contract between Supacat and Kongsberg, and the first time the Protector will be integrated on an open vehicle.

Kongsberg will begin production in Norway immediately, with deliveries expected to begin by the end of this year.
