Yvonne Sears, Director of Adelaide’s ISDefence, has been named Australasia’s number one continuity and resilience consultant by the Business Continuity Institute.

Sears, a global expert in privacy and information security based in Adelaide, beat out consultants from across Australia and NZ to take out the award, which recognises individuals who have an innovative approach to the discipline, are an outstanding problem solver, and a worthy ambassador for the consultancy profession in the area of business continuity and resilience.

Sears said it was a great honour to win this award, and to have the opportunity to not only represent Adelaide, but the industry within Australasia at the global awards later this year.

“This award is a culmination of the work that I, and my team at ISDefence, has undertaken to ensure businesses around Australia build confidence and capability towards greater business resiliency, particularly with the recent changes to privacy laws and the introduction of data breach notification in Australia and the GDPR in Europe,” Sears said.

One of only a handful of women in the industry, Sears is also one of the few information security professionals globally to hold both Masters in Information Law and Masters in Information Security and Computer Crime.

Sears has been part of a number of large-scale significant projects across Australia and the UK. Outcomes from these projects have had global significance and paved the way for changes in data sharing and privacy issues in sensitive and complex areas.

Sears' company, ISDefence, is an Adelaide-based information security company with clients from across Australia.
