Indra Land Vehicles and IDV, a Leonardo Company, have reached a strategic agreement that forms the basis for delivering the new Marine Infantry Amphibious Combat Vehicle (VACIM), as requested by the Spanish Ministry of Defence (MoD) within the framework of a Special Modernization Program (PEM).

“The SUPERAV 8x8 has already been selected by the United States Marine Corps and by the Italian Armed Forces. In the USA IDV’s amphibious platform serves as base of the Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV), supplied in partnership with BAE Systems; while in Italy the SUPERAV, equipped with Leonardo’s weapon systems, is the base of the Veicolo Blindato Anfibio (VBA). Thanks to the contract signed with Indra, IDV will deliver the state-of-the-art amphibious armoured platform, enabling Spain to renew and expand its National Defence vehicle fleet and effectively address current and future operational challenges," Head of Sales IDV, Nazario Bianchini, stated.

This contract constitutes a milestone geared towards providing the Spanish Marine Infantry with crucial and fully interoperable capabilities, while reinforcing its potential for amphibious projection and its operations in coastal settings.

“The collaboration with IDV will constitute a decisive step within the project to equip the Spanish Marine Infantry with the capabilities required by today’s demanding scenarios, and the beginning of a stable, long-term industrial relationship. The contract, together with Indra’s delivery of new specialized variants, will enhance the amphibious capabilities of our Armed Forces and enable Indra to continue establishing a robust, innovative, and forward-thinking industrial base," CPO and Managing Director of Indra Land Vehicles, Frank Torres, declared.

The collaboration with IDV will allow for the integration of platforms with high degrees of mobility, protection, and reliability for missions at sea and on land. The contract includes the supply of 34 Superav platforms by IDV.

As part of the program, Indra Group will deliver Troop Transport, Command and Control, Recovery and Ambulance variants of the VACIM, integrating the Superav 8x8 platforms with the mission systems requested by the Spanish MoD.

These tasks, performed in Indra’s industrial facilities in Spain, will include the installation of the above-mentioned systems and the functional adaptation, validation, and final delivery of the vehicles configured for the Marine Infantry.
