Patria has signed a contract with Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (Kongsberg) for the delivery of Protector RS4 remote weapon stations for approximately 300 Patria 6x6 armoured vehicles within the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) program.
“We are very proud to support CAVS member nations with a common RS4 equipped Patria 6x6 configuration. The CAVS defence collaboration framework lets nations move fast, buy smart and sustain locally ‒ therefore the defence forces receive always a consistent, interoperable capability with the backing of a robust European supply chain,” Executive Vice President of Patria’s Protected Mobility business area, Jussi Järvinen, said.
The contract will cost approximately €140 million euros (approx. A $235 million) and will include an additional order for Sweden as well as RS4 subsystems for several CAVS vehicle variants ordered by Germany in December 2025.
“This contract positions the PROTECTOR RS4 as the standard weapon station configuration across the multinational CAVS fleet. We are pleased to extend our cooperation with the Swedish and German armed forces. Combined with growing interest from participating and prospective CAVS nations, this agreement confirms Kongsberg’s standing as a leading supplier of remote weapon stations,” Executive Vice President at Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, Kjetil Reiten Myhra, stated.
The assembly of the vehicles will be carried out in cooperation with Patria’s industrial partners in Germany, with deliveries scheduled for 2026–2030.
The Finnish-led CAVS program currently consists of seven member nations: Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, The United Kingdom and Norway with the vehicles being also operational in Ukraine.
Within the CAVS program, Patria has led the 6x6 armoured vehicle system development.
Patria has contracted approximately 2000 Patria 6x6 vehicles including options and has delivered more than 300 vehicles. The program is open to other countries with similar equipment requirements, by mutual consent of the participating countries.
