The International Centre for Complex Project Management (ICCPM) and ASC have partnered, reinforcing a shared commitment to building the leadership, capability and expertise required to deliver Australia's most complex and strategically significant programs.

As Australia's sovereign submarine company, ASC plays a critical role in supporting national defence capability through the sustainment of the Collins Class submarine fleet and the development of the sovereign skills, expertise and industrial capability required to deliver Australia's future submarine programs.

The partnership comes at a critical time for Australia's defence sector, as industry and governments work together to build the workforce, leadership and expertise needed to deliver future submarine capability and strengthen Australia’s sovereign defence industry.

Through this partnership, ASC and ICCPM will collaborate to strengthen professional capability, foster knowledge sharing and support the development of current and future leaders responsible for delivering complex projects and programs across defence, government and industry.

CEO and Managing Director of ICCPM, Collin Smith, said the partnership reflects the growing importance of leadership and project delivery capability in supporting Australia's future defence priorities.

"Australia's future defence capability will depend not only on technology and infrastructure, but on the people, complex project leadership and project delivery capability that underpin successful outcomes," Smith said.

“ASC is a recognised leader in the delivery and sustainment of sovereign defence capability, and we are proud to welcome them as an ICCPM Gold Corporate Partner."

As Australia's defence sector continues to expand, organisations are facing increasing demand for skilled project professionals capable of leading large-scale, strategically significant and highly complex programs.

“Through this partnership, we have an opportunity to strengthen capability, share knowledge and foster a community of leaders equipped to tackle some of the nation's most complex projects and programs," Smith said.

“This partnership also aligns with ICCPM's broader efforts to strengthen Australia's complex project management ecosystem, support workforce development and build the sovereign skills and leadership capability needed to deliver Australia's future defence and national infrastructure priorities."

Through its broader capability-building initiatives, including activities being progressed through the Defence Industry Development Grant (DIDG) program, ICCPM is working with industry, governments and academia to strengthen Australia's complex project management ecosystem, expand professional development pathways and help build the workforce capability required to support future defence and national infrastructure priorities.

"We're building exceptional teams at ASC with the skills and mindset needed to navigate complexity and help deliver Australia's sovereign submarine capability," CEO of ASC, Alex Walsh, said.

“Throughout my career, I've believed that no matter how significant the challenge, the right methods and mindset can unlock the right solutions.

“That's why I'm delighted that ASC has partnered with the International Centre for Complex Project Management to give our project management teams access to globally recognised development opportunities and world-leading expertise – expertise that has been invaluable throughout my working life."

ICCPM warmly welcomes ASC to its community of Corporate Partners and looks forward to working together to strengthen Australia's complex project management profession, defence capability and future project leadership workforce.
