In July 2026, L3Harris had that opportunity as part of AUKUS Pillar II undersea warfare activities at Exercise Rim of the Pacific 2026, the world's largest international maritime exercise involving 34 nations and more than 25,000 personnel. The L3Harris Rock Lobster deployable underwater acoustic communication relay system was successfully deployed and tested off the coast of Hawaii alongside Australian and U.S. Navy assets.
Developed by L3Harris in collaboration with the Royal Australian Navy and the Defence Science and Technology Group, Rock Lobster demonstrated real-world interoperability between Australian and U.S. underwater acoustic communication technologies. Operating as part of mission scenarios focused on protecting critical undersea infrastructure, Rock Lobster proved that Australian-developed capabilities can operate seamlessly alongside allied systems in complex, contested environments.
