The solid-propellant gas generator that will form part of the cold-launch system of the US Missile Defense Agency's Kinetic Energy Interceptor (KEI) was successfully tested at Alliant Techsystems' facility in Elkton, Maryland, on December 18 last year, Northrop Grumman revealed on January 6.

ATK supplied the gas generator used for the test, while Raytheon participated in its role as the KEI team's lead contractor for interceptor development.
