News Review: Pentagon honours ALR-67(V)3 | ADM Nov 08
The ALR-67(V)3 radar warning receiver that equips the US Navy F/A-18E/F Super Hornet and the RAAF’s upgraded ‘classic’ Hornet, has earned Raytheon and its US Navy partner a Performance-Based Logistics Award from the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
The citation recognized the “superb efforts” of a team representing the Naval Inventory Control Point and Raytheon in meeting the terms of a $150 million performance-based logistics contract for the ALR-67(V)3 receiver.
The contract set several precedents, including the Navy's willingness to award it a full year before delivery of the first production unit.
The receiver employs sophisticated digital technology to detect and identify threat radar emitters, enhancing the survivability of aircraft that rely on the system.
Initially deployed during Operation Iraqi Freedom, the system has been chosen by several international air forces for their F/A-18 tactical fleets.
“Operational readiness and system reliability are critical battlefield discriminators,” said Roy Azevedo, manager of Raytheon's Electronic Warfare business area.
“This is truly a life-saving product for the aviators who serve in the F/A-18, and we take great pride in helping to bring them home safely.”
