Antares Corporation has announced the release of several new rugged handheld computers with extensive features for a wide variety of applications.

The Dingo is a fully rugged MIL-STD-810F designed device, specifically targeting military applications.

It combines exceptional toughness with a fast processor, excellent daylight readability and IP67 water and dust proofing.

The Dingo offers 2 x RS-232 communications ports with optional RS-422 or RS-485 mode, RJ45 Ethernet, CF card and micro SD card expandability.

It has 512MB RAM and 1GB onboard storage.

The unit supports GPRS or HSDPA and offers software switchable VGA or QVGA screen resolution.

It also provides an optional integrated high-resolution GPS.

The unit is supplied with Windows Mobile 6.1.

The Nautiz X5 and eTicket units from Handheld Europe AB combine rugged specifications for temperature range and drop testing with an IP65 ingress protection rating.

These units feature PXA320 806MHz processors for fastest-in-class performance and have an option list including HSDPA telephone, 2D bar code scanner, RFID scanner and 3MP LED assisted camera.

The new Nautiz X7 from Handheld is a full MIL-STD device with IP67 rating and includes integrated GPS, digital compass, altimeter, G force meter and HSDPA/GPRS data communications.

The final new product from Antares is the PA600 unit which is the lightest fully rugged pda available weighing just on 290gms and with excellent sunlight-readable QVGA display performance.

The PA600 has a fully integrated GPS module with sub 1 sec "Hot Start" TTFF and exceptional accuracy and sensitivity.

The unit supports GPRS data communications and Bluetooth local connectivity.

The Nautiz range and the PA600 are configured with Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1.

These units complement Antares' existing range of Trimble Nomad, Ranger and Recon products.
