The company is a leading global provider of Airborne Hydrographic services through the use of lasers to measure water depths.
The business, now known as Fugro LADS, will remain based at Technology Park in Adelaide.
It employs more than 60 people in Adelaide and its field offices in Cairns and Biloxi, Mississippi in the US.
The development of the Laser Airborne Depth Sounder (LADS) technology started in the 1970s to help fulfil the needs of the Royal Australian Navy to chart vast tracts of Australia's hazardous marine environment not able to be charted using conventional methods.
The corporation's design and development of the airborne LiDAR bathymetry technology in the early 1990s for surveying the Great Barrier Reef on behalf of the Australian Government has also led to contract work around the world.
Fugro LADS has annual revenues in the order of $22 million from its long-term contract with the Defence Department operating its RAN LADS system in Cairns and global contracts from governments and commercial enterprises.
