Thales Australia and Trusted Computer Solutions, Inc (TCS) have announced that Thales has been recognised as an official Technology Alliance Partner by TCS.

Thales is also a Certified Implementation Partner for Secure Office Trusted Thin Client (SOTTC) - the technology behind Thales' innovative Cross Domain Solution (CDS).

The CDS supports government and military organisations that require access to external and internal networks at different security levels.

Thales is the first systems integrator officially certified to implement the SOTTC solution, and has already certified several of its engineers.

With the CDS, users have simultaneous access to different security networks at different security classification levels, all through one computer terminal.

This represents a significant advantage over traditional systems, where separate terminals have been required to access different security networks - one terminal for Secret, another for Restricted, and so on.

"Our CDS solution delivers real and immediate benefits to government agencies and users," said Ian Irving, Vice President in charge of Thales's Land & Joint Systems activities in Australia.

"The real breakthrough lies in its simplicity for users.

"The CDS' simple and easy to navigate desktop enables quick and simultaneous access to secure networks and the applications users need to do their jobs effectively.

"There is also an immediate saving through the reduction of the number of computer terminals required, decreasing hardware, maintenance, power consumption and infrastructure costs for a lower cost of ownership."

The CDS is a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) product that works using thin client technology and is compatible with existing operating systems such as Microsoft Windows and UNIX.

Each security network is securely separated from the others by the CDS operating system layer, which enforces a strong protection security policy that prevents cross-domain contamination.
