The Systems Division of Tenix Defence Systems has successfully completed the Critical Design Review for the Elta EL/L-8222 ECM pod Software Support Facility being acquired under Project Air 5391 Phase 6.

The facility is being developed at Tenix's Mawson Lakes, SA, facility and is to be delivered to the RAAF's Electronic Warfare Squadron in June 2001. The EL/L-8222 is being acquired to provide EW self-protection for the RAAF's F-111s.

Phil Prosser, Tenix's Project Manager, said that the project has progressed on schedule and budget and the facility will provide the RAAF with the capability to program the EL/L-8222 threat and ECM techniques libraries, and evaluate the libraries.

To support the pod in-country, two Systems Division staff will return to Australia in April following nine months at ELTA Electronics Industries in Ashdod, Israel, which is prime contractor for project Air 5391 Phase 6. They are working on the Pre-flight Message Generator, the software program to allow EW Squadron staff to reprogram the pod, and the EW Analysis Station used as the ECM technique evaluation tool.

Elta recently passed an important milestone by successfully integrating the pod with the Terma AN/ALQ-213 EW Management System.
