Sagem wins Anzac IRST contract
French electro-optics company Sagem has won a contract to supply 17 infrared search and track (IRST) systems to the RAN. These will form part of Navy's ANZAC frigates anti-ship missile defence (ASMD) upgrade.
As the premier third-generation IRST of its kind, Sagem's VAMPIR NG will improve significantly the survivability of the ship against any air threats, in particular anti-ship missiles. It is also effective against asymmetric threats present in coastal areas. This new-generation equipment contains the latest in infrared focal plane array detector technology and the sum total of Sagem DS's experience in signal processing.
Developed specially to meet new demands in naval equipment, these products contain common, multi-program modules that guarantee low through life costs and durability throughout the ship's entire life cycle.
This new line of products is also proposed for the European FREMM multi-mission frigate program, making Sagem DS the undisputable reference when it comes to self-defense naval optronics systems.
