Tenix Defence Pty Ltd has been awarded the $25 million contract to install and integrate Electronic Warfare Self Protection (EWSP) modifications for the RAAF's 12 C-130H Hercules aircraft at Richmond, NSW.

Tenix Defence CEO, Robert Salteri, said the company's Aerospace Division was looking forward to working with the RAAF again following the successful work carried out on C-130s in 2001.

"The contract recognises Tenix as a world-leader in electronic warfare and system integration skills," he said.

The contract follows Tenix's selection as preferred tenderer for the C-130H EWSP modification under Project AIR 5416 (Echidna) Phase 2B.

The integration work, designed to improve the survivability of aircraft in combat, will be carried out by Tenix Defence's Aerospace Division at the World Trade Centre and Tullamarine in Melbourne. It is due for completion in 2008.

This project further develops an interim EWSP capability completed by Tenix Defence Aerospace Division in 2001 on four C-130 aircraft.

Subject to approval, Tenix will also be installing the ESBU Satcom (satellite communications) solution developed in an earlier contract. This will extend the mission role capabilities of the aircraft, increasing operational efficiencies for the ADF by reducing the length of time aircraft are out of operation.
