Tenix wins C130H EWSP contract
Tenix Defence Pty Ltd has been awarded the $25 million contract to install and integrate Electronic Warfare Self Protection (EWSP) modifications for the 12 RAAF C-130H Hercules aircraft, based at Richmond, NSW.
According to Mr Robert Salteri, the CEO of Tenix Defence, the company's Aerospace Division was looking forward to working with the RAAF again following the successful work carried out on C-130s in 2001.
"It is a great privilege for the company to be selected to carry out work that is so crucial to the safe operation of RAAF aircraft in combat situations," Mr Salteri said. "The contract recognises Tenix as a world-leader in electronic warfare and system integration skills.
"Tenix look forward to working with the Department of Defence and value the Australian Government, the Department of Defence and Defence Minister Robert Hill's confidence in our capabilities.
The contract follows Tenix's selection as preferred tenderer for the C-130H EWSP modification under Project AIR 5416 (Echidna) Phase 2B.
The integration work, designed to improve the survivability of aircraft in combat, will be carried out by Tenix Defence's Aerospace Division at the World Trade Centre and Tullamarine in Melbourne. It is due for completion in 2008.
This project further develops an interim EWSP capability completed by Tenix Defence Aerospace Division in 2001 on four C-130 aircraft.
Subject to approval, Tenix will be installing the ESBU Satcom (satellite communications) solution developed in an earlier contract. This will extend the mission role capabilities of the aircraft, increasing operational efficiencies for the ADF by reducing the length of time aircraft are out of operation.
