Employers from South Australia and Tasmania are travelling to Malaysia as part of Boss Lift, an ADF program designed to encourage employer support for the Reserves.

The 20 employers will visit soldiers from 9th Brigade currently on a three-month deployment.

The part-time soldiers have temporarily become members of Rifle Company Butterworth, a regular rotation of Australian military personnel which supports the Australian presence at Butterworth Air Base and conducts regular exercises with the Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand Defence Forces.

The Reserve and Employer Support Division (RESD), responsible for employer support for Australia’s Defence Reservists, has ensured the three-day Boss Lift program will highlight the important role the Reserves play in the ADF.

Head of RESD, Major General Greg Melick said he believed the employers involved in Boss Lift would gain a valuable insight into the benefits that Reserve service brings back to the civilian workplace.
