RePneu TV is a product developed by Arnco for specific use in Tactical Vehicles.
A test report demonstrating high-speed endurance performance in a BFG Baja T/A radial on a M1151A1 HMMWV is available for authorised recipients.
Bearcat Tyes Business Development Manager Glen Wolfenden said the report would help address any "short time" high-speed performance concerns.
"The RePneu TV polymer will mitigate shock blasts and the weight is a rolling unsprung load versus the add-on armour weight to the vehicle chassis.
"Arnco RePneu TV contains no air and in the case of high debris damage to the tyre the area is isolated to the damaged area rather than the whole tyre.
"In the case of multiple bullet penetration; the tyre performance including steerability is almost unnoticed as the tyre remains at the inflated PSI without any air loss.
"Basically the vehicle can still travel up to 90km/ph for up to 8 hours."
Mr Wolfenden is quick to dismiss any negativity in regard to large increases in mass of the tyre/wheel assembly.
"The addition of flatproofing polymers does add weight to the tyre/wheel assembly; however it is a rolling supportive un-sprung mass weight versus the added hanging steel plate armour weight added to up-armoured wheeled vehicles.
"If there is a key priority in addressing increased ballistic threat levels in hazardous operating environments, it appears the puncture-proof features of using Arnco ‘No-Flat' tyre technology would provide more survivability benefits versus some alternative run-flat tyres currently used."
A range of different Arnco tyre flatproofing is also available for construction, industrial and earthmover equipment.
This is a great advantage in keeping equipment operational in high-use applications, or equipment that is in low use but often required at short notice, as the tyres do not go flat while lying dormant.
