SOS Marine's objective in the design and manufacture of this vest was to produce a Divers Recovery Vest that incorporated a number of features in a single snug fit unit.
The vest incorporates a quick release weight system, safety harness, and buoyancy compensator.
A diver can step into this vest and be ready to enter the water in two minutes.
In the commercial and military diving fields it was recognised that too many individual pieces of equipment were required for a diver.
This new product provides divers with additional capability and confidence, and greatly improves diver safety.
There are several unique features of this recovery vest.
The main feature is the manner in which synthetic textiles have been used.
The operating environment of salt water, temperature extremes and UV light, all significantly shorten the life of marine materials.
This vest is made of heavy duty synthetics and provides resistance to the elements, without diminishing the user's flexibility.
After trialing and testing by various occupational diving bodies, the vest was found to work well in terms of its configuration and comfort, ease of fitting and adjustments for various body shapes, buoyancy control, compatibility with tasks in SCUBA and SSBA, durability, maintenance and serviceability.
The recovery vest is patented, having completed safety trials with the Royal Australian Navy Clearance Divers.
The vest is being used by, among others, Research Divers of the Australian Antarctic Division, and Queensland Police Diving Squad.
This vest was the winning invention featured on Australian New Inventors ABC TV in October 2007.
Further to the success SOS Marine has already achieved with their Divers Recovery Vest, on June 19 2009 the Divers Recovery Vest also took out the Product Innovation category of the Australian Business Awards.
This achievement further cements SOS Marine's Divers Recovery Vest as an innovative market-leader.
