The WA Government owned Common User Facility (CUF) at the Australian Marine Complex (AMC) has played host to three concurrent Anzac class maintenance activities during the second half of 2017.

Naval Ship Management (NSM) is a joint venture established by Babcock International Group and UGL Limited providing sustainment services for the class time sustainment solutions as a participant of the Warship Asset Management Agreement (WAMA), in conjunction with their partners BAE Systems, SAAB and the Commonwealth of Australia.

AMC wharves 1, 2, and 3 were utilised for the work being conducted on HMA Ships Anzac, HMAS Toowoomba and HMAS Ballarat.

NSM's project management team is complemented by an extensive supply chain incorporating Australian Industry and the Royal Australian Navy’s Fleet Support Unit. Currently a maintenance workforce of over 220 skilled trades personnel and engineering professionals is mobilised, using over 50 suppliers, many of which are resident in the AMC.

NSM general manager Joe Smith said the AMC CUF is a vital resource in delivering efficient sustainment services to the class and a key member of NSM’s Supply Chain.

“We look forward to continuing to utilise the AMC CUF’s strategic location, excellent services and proximity to highly skilled suppliers in the ongoing support of the Royal Australian Navy’s Fleet.”

The CUF also plays a crucial role in the maintenance docking of the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines which are all based at HMAS Stirling
