Serco Asia Pacific has announced a new integrated Facilities Management Business Unit incorporating key FM and Asset Management services, which it says will elevate the level of operational expertise and delivery in the sector across Australia.

The formation of the Facilities Management Business Unit aims to enhance existing facility management contracts and broaden capability across Serco’s other five key sectors of Defence, Justice and Immigration, Health, Citizen Services and Transport.

It will be led by Ben Bayot who joined Serco in January following the company’s acquisition of Facilities First Australia (FF).

The announcement comes as Serco has been recognised by the Ministry of Defence in the United Kingdom through a seven-year contract to support the UK’s defence capability, maintaining nationally important assets and buildings across its estate with responsibility for more than 200 sites and 19,000 buildings.

The services include planned and reactive maintenance, mandatory safety checks through to asset replacement, property refurbishments and large construction projects.

“The appointment of Ben Bayot as the Managing Director of our new Facilities Management Business Unit delivers significant expertise. Ben will work closely with all our current business areas combining our local knowledge with true international expertise," Serco Asia Pacific CEO Peter Welling said.
