The German Government yesterday announced that Boeing’s CH-47F Chinook has been selected for its heavy-lift helicopter requirements (STH) for the German Bundeswehr.

“Boeing is honored the German government has selected the CH-47F Chinook for its future heavy-lift helicopter requirements," the company said in a statement. "We look forward to working with the U.S. and German governments to finalise this sale under the Foreign Military Sales process.

"Together with our Chinook Deutschland Industry Team - AERO-Bildung GmbH, Airbus Helicopters Deutschland, CAE GmbH, ESG Elektroniksystem-und Logistik-GmbH, Honeywell Aerospace, Lufthansa Technik AG, and Rolls-Royce Deutschland Ltd. & Co.KG - we are committed to delivering maximum operational availability to the German Bundeswehr for decades to come.”

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has committed the country to spend more than two per cent of its GDP on defence in the long term and more than doubling its current defence budget in 2022. Germany has also broken a long-standing policy against sending weapons to conflict zones and is providing military support to Ukraine.
