Northrop Grumman has unveiled Project Talon, an autonomous aircraft built to fly alongside crewed fighters. It is the latest addition to the company’s autonomous portfolio.

Project Talon has aimed to combine greater mission versatility with advanced modular manufacturing techniques. It is hoped it will advance collaboration between crewed and uncrewed aircraft, acting as a force multiplier to enhance lethality, adaptability and mission effectiveness.

According to the company, Project Talon was designed, built and is on track to fly in under 24 months.

Earlier this year, Northrop Grumman released Beacon. It is an autonomous testbed ecosystem that it is hoped will accelerate Project Talon, testing its avionics software in real-world environments.
