Beca has announced it has been awarded a six-year contract by the Department of Defence’s Directorate of Estate and Land Management (DELM), to deliver their EMOS 3rd Party Assurance Program.

An ongoing program, the EMOS (Estate Maintenance and Operation Services) Assurance Program is essential to support Australia’s Defence capability by assuring that estate elements are 'safe, serviceable and compliant'.

This competitively tendered contract is an extension of the assurance program Beca has delivered for the past five years and solidifies Beca as DELM’s assurance partner for the foreseeable future. It also follows a recent 12-month extension granted in February 2022.

"The Defence Estate is a critical enabler of the country’s Defence capability and supports the generation and sustainment of the Australian Defence Force," David Barter, Business Director of Defence & National Security at Beca, said. "Consequently, the assurance of the maintenance performed on the Estate is crucial and we are proud to continue our long and genuine partnership with DELM as their assurance partner."

Over the course of the existing program, Beca's ISO-accredited in-house auditors have delivered assurance activities across 75 establishments, providing subject matter input covering estate upkeep, electrical management, water quality management, asbestos management and land management.

Beca says it will build on this success over the following six years to offer an assurance approach to the Defence estate that is 'defendable, transparent and flexible'.

This will be achieved through the objective assessment of the EMOS Contractors' contractual deliverables under the Base Services Contract, to assure they meet Defence and legislative requirements, Beca said.
