BGIS has been named the Estate & Infrastructure Base Services Contractor of the Year at the 2020 Department of Defence Base Services Contractor Awards.

This marks the second consecutive year that BGIS has won this prestigious annual award – a first for any base services contractor.

The Base Services Contractor of the Year award recognises the contractor that has demonstrated a "true partnered approach to service delivery, and key behaviour principles such as respect, trust, accountability, integrity, fairness and commitment."

“I congratulate BGIS for jointly winning the 2020 Base Services Contractor of the Year,” Steve Grzeskowiak, Deputy Secretary of Estate and Infrastructure, who presented the awards at a ceremony in Townsville, said. “During 2020, Defence was pleased with BGIS’ response to government and Defence’s changing priorities, particularly in relation to restrictions and initiatives brought about by COVID-19. BGIS demonstrated a willingness to work with industry partners to improve service across the Defence estate, and a commitment to continuous improvement that delivers value for money.

“We recognise that BGIS proactively responds to customer feedback across all product lines, with a digital-centric approach that makes collaboration easier."

BGIS provides a range of facility management, trade and operational support services at 150 Defence sites across NSW.

“On this contract, we have a dedicated team of more than 260 staff who have worked hard over the years to build a strong relationship with Defence, and this award is an endorsement of the team’s consistent service excellence and vision to deliver best practice," Brad Robbins, BGIS’ Managing Director – Operations, Defence and FMO, said.

The organisation said it has also engaged GJK Indigenous Solutions, an Aboriginal-owned and -operated business, to provide workers for its cleaning services contract with the Department of Defence.
