The School of Information Operations (SOIO) has recently achieved the milestone of delivering 100 defence courses to over 900 students.

Since its launch in 2019, SOIO has been training the next generation of professionals working in the Department of Defence, Defence Industry and the wider Defence Organisation.

"To achieve 100 courses in such a short timeframe is evidence of our dedication and instructors experience. The positive feedback we receive from clients and students is testament to our success with delivering capability to Defence," CEO of SOIO, Glenn Murray, said.

Originally comprising just one Electronic Warfare (EW) short course derived from courseware developed by Leonardo Academy in Lincoln, UK, they now offer a total of six short courses and two long courses that cover multi-domain operations including EW, Cyber, Undersea Warfare (USW), Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS), Space and Maritime Operations.

Now entering its fifth year, SOIO has grown to 27 instructors with extensive defence operational experience and a permanent operations team, covering cross domain Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare (ISREW), USW, Maritime Operations and UAS.

In addition, SOIO draws upon knowledge from industry subject matter experts from cyber, space operations and EW fields.

The school conducts courses across Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Nowra and Perth, with an eye to expanding further in Australia and overseas.
